I apologise for forgetting about this last week. Anyway, to continue with the first issue's '80s supersaloon theme, here's one that was even faster than the Omega, the AMG Hammer, real name 300E 5.6 (for some reason Vivian calls it the 560E). This was back when a 24V Mercedes-Benz E-class could be considered sporty, and the letters AMG had a meaning. The same can't be quite said today.

I think that when they modified and sold the car in the UK it really was called a 560E.

That's curious because the car was known as the E 5.6 elsewhere and IIRC Chris Harris referred to it as the E 5.6 too when Evo compared the Hammer and the Sierra Cosworth.

Who knows? Reading the article it seems that the car was modified in the UK using AMG parts rather than being worked on by AMG themselves and maybe they decided on 560E as being more logical.
